Years ago (and, sad to say, several kilos ago) I had this lovely navy blue silk jumpsuit from Monsoon. I loved it so much. It had a cute 70s feel with bell shaped sleeves, a deep v-neck front and back, and wide flowy legs. I held on to it for as long as I could, but eventually I had to come to terms with the fact I won't fit into a size 36 (european that is) anymore.
I admit; I do get sentimental about clothes, but there is no point in hanging on to things that simply doesn't fit, are outworn or no longer suit your lifestyle. They will hang there in the closet reminding you of how you've not lost that weight, why you can't, or don't want to, wear it anymore, or whatever. The point is; if it doesn't make you happy you shouldn't keep it in your closet. I find that if my closet only contains the items that fit me, and I want to wear, I can focus my mind on more important things rather than fret about "not having anything to wear". It can be hard, but sometimes it is better to find new homes for your most beloved items, even if they were expensive, or you love them, but if you don't wear them, let them make someone else happy. Take it from me; I benefit from a lot of peoples closet clean-outs, and I appreciate all my thrifted finds!
With that said, sentimentality is strong though, and when I found this one-piece, in my size, I had to take it home:

Sorry about the crap image...
I really need to get better at this picture taking business...
It's navy blue, got wide legs (pockets too, which is a bonus), a v-neck, and thats about where the similarities end. It's polyester, not silk, and the fit is, well, awkward. It's from Vila, another fast fashion chain I generally avoid, but, like I said, sentimentality got the better of me, so I'll just have to make it work.
Once I tried it on, I realised the pleating was really weird. I didn't take a picture of the mess, but one of my boobs looked like it was going on tour with Madonna anno 1990:

Blonde Ambition
Pleating like this belong under the boobage area, not smack bang on top of it, especially not if it's skewed. Some judicious stitchery later the pesky pleats were kept sort of in place. Let me tell you; handstitching anything under your left boob whilst wearing the item is not a walk in the park...
I'll probably have to redo it properly at some point, but for now it serves. I paired my new to me jumpsuit with a pair of recently thrifted espadrilles and went out in the garden to enjoy a cup of coffee in the late summer sunshine.

XOXO
